This coast is renowned for surfing; from places that pump out perfect learner waves perfect for beginners, to spots that offer greater swells for intermediate and advanced surfers. Follow the Esplanade down the hill from Mortehoe and you will find Combesgate, followed by Woolacombe one of the best places to surf in the UK and recently placed at #20 in the best beaches in the world.

The surf schools in Woolacombe offer a busy timetable of lessons from Spring through to Autumn, and we would recommend booking in advance. Our families have enjoyed lessons with both Hunter Surf and the Woolacombe Surf Centre.
